  11. This is a very good preparation. I used to have it often when I was in Kerala. We were lucky to have a very large tree near our house. When it is tender (the outer skin of the fruit will have slightly thorny formations when it is tender) we use it to make ‘puzhukku’ by cooking it with 20% volume sambar dal. This is seasoned by ‘Kuthi Kkachu’ (small onion and red dry hot chillies crushed together and seasoned in coconut oil with addition of currey leaves as the onion and chilly crush become crispy and the puzhukku which is cooked ready with salt and a pinch of turmeric powder is mixed with the crispy onion-chilly-currey leavees combination.)
    With kanji it is excellent.
