Ingredients
Dry Fish of ur choice -1/2 kg here i used mackerel *(Ayala)
Grated coconut – half of one
Chilli powder-1tbsp
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Shallots -15
Curry leaves -2 strings
Ginger -small piece
Raw mango -1 or according to the sourness
Salt-mosly no need to add
Coconut oil-1tbsp
Raw plantain -1/2 of one (opt)
Green chilli-1 or 2
Water-4cup
For Seasoning
Shallots-4
Curry leaves-
Coconut oil -1tbsp
Method
Soak fish for 30 minutes ..
Then wash well and cut to medium size pieces ..
In a earthen pot or non stick sauce pan add water ..
Into that add chilli powder ,turmeric powder ,curry leaves ,green chilli slits ,finely chopped shallots , ginger slits and one tbsp of oil.. Mix well
Add fish pieces and if u want u can add plantain pieces too .. i added that ..
Cook for 10 minutes then add thinly sliced mango pieces and close the pot and cook for another 10 minutes in medium heat ..
in between make fine paste of grated coconut by adding water ..
Add this ground paste into the curry and mix slowly ..
Allow this to boil .. Check the salt.. if u feel need to add the salt ,then add according to that /…
Then heat 1 tbsp of oil and roast shallots and curry leaves and add this to the curry and close the pot for 5 minutes ..then mix slowly..
its best to use after few hours .. by that time all the masalas will be well coated in the fish ..
Goes well with rice
