Ingredients
Idli-10
Tomato-2
Ginger-garlic-2tsp
Curry leaves-2 strings
Coriander leaves-handful
Green Chilli-2
Kashmiri chilli powder-1/2tsp
Pepper Powder-less than 1/4tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Salt-to taste
Onion-2finely chopped
Water-2cup
Sugar-a pinch
Lemon juice-
Garam masala-1/4tsp
Soya Sauce-1tbsp
Oil- for frying
Asafoetida powder-pinch
Method
Cut each idli into 4 pieces and shallow fry them till they r light golden colour..Keep aside ..
Heat 1 tbsp of oil and add minced ginger -garlic ,green chilli ,onion and curry leaves along with very little salt ..
Saute till the onion become translucent …
Then add turmeric powder ,chilli powder ,pepper powder,garam masala and asafoetida powder ..Saute till the raw smell goes ..
Then add finely chopped tomato .. Mix and cook well by closing the pan ..if needed add water ..
Then open the kadai and cook the tomato till the oil separates ,otherwise the raw smell of the tomato will be there ..
Then add soya sauce ,1 tsp of lemon juice ..Mix well..Check the taste .. Add 2 cups of water .. Allow to boil ..Now check the salt ..Add salt …
Now add half the amount of finely chopped fresh coriander leaves ..
Finally add fried idli and lower the flame .. Mix well and close for 2 minutes so that idli can absorb all the sauce…Cook till the idli becomes dry (All the masalas will be coated )..
At last garnish with rest of the coriander leaves and sprinkle lemon juice on the top …
U can adjust the spice according to ur taste .. If u want u can sprinkle garam masala in the end …
Serve hot with coconut chutney … 🙂
