Ingredients
Roasted rice flour -2 1/2 cup (i used nirapara appam powder)
Cheru pazham /Small banana-6
Grated coconut-1/2 of 1
Sesame seeds-2tsp
Cardamom powder-1/4tsp
Jaggery -400gm
Salt-one pinch
Oil /Coconut oil/ghee-for frying
Ghee-2 tbsp
Method
Melt jaggery by adding one cup of water …
After cooling stain it and keep aside ..
Now peel banana(cheru pazham/palayan thodan) and grind to a fine paste by adding melted jaggery ..
In a big bowl pour this banana mix ,to this add rice flour and mix well…
In a pan heat ghee and add grated coconut and roast till light golden colour ,then lower the heat and add sesame seeds and stir continuously for 1 minutes ..
Remove from the fire and and allow to cool..
Then add this coconut-sesame seed to the rice flour -banana-jaggery mixture and mix well long with salt and cardamom powder ..
Check the sugar add if u want more (according to ur taste )
Then allow this mix to sit for8 hours
Then after the fermentation take the batter
Pour oil to the holes of a non stick appam kadai and heat ..
When the oil is medium hot ,pour 1 tbsp of batter to each hole ..
After 1-2 minute flip over to the other side..
Fry till appams are light brown in colour ..
Remove from the oil and keep them in a kitchen tissue to remove the excess oil ..
Do the rest of the batches like the same way …
So very easy and tasty unniyappams are ready …
