Big onion-1 medium
Ginger-one small piece
Cumin seeds-1 pinch
Turmeric powder-less than 1/4tsp
Salt -to taste
Heat oil in a kadai ..Add mustard seeds,chanadal,cumin seeds,pepper,broken cashewnuts one bye one and stir well for few seconds .
Then add curry leaves,finely chopped onion,ginger .green chilly and turmeric powder …
Saute well for 5 minutes in medium heat until the onion become soft ..
Now add 2tbsp of grated coconut and salt ..Stir ..
Then add boiled water and let it cook for 5 minutes ..
Check the salt ..Adjust if needed..
Finally add rava slowly and stir well ..
Add remaining 1tbsp of coconut too..
Stir continuously till reaches a thick consistency ..
If u want u can sprinkle ghee and mix .. So the tasty and easy kanjipuram upama is ready to serve ..
U can serve with chutney ..Or u can have upma itself 🙂
Broken Wheat Upma
Broken Wheat(Gothambu Nurukku) -1 cup
Carrot- 1 small
Ginger crushed -1 tsp
Green Chilli-1 chopped
Curry leaves-1 string
Dry Red chilli-2
Big onion-1 small (chopped finely)
Vegetable Oil- 1tbsp
Thoroughly wash broken wheat 3-4 times ..
Then soak in hot water for 30 minutes ..
Pour this a cooker along with water and salt
Cook in medium flame (3 whistle)
Then after the pressure release ,open the cooker and keep aside
Now heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds,dry red chilli and urad dal one by one ..
Then add crushed ginger ,salt ,onion,green chilli and curry leaves..
Saute for 1 minute ..Then add vegetables and saute for 2 minutes in medium flame ..
Now add cooked what to this and mix well..Check the salt and allow to cook for 5 more minutes in low flame ..
Stirring occasionally …Sprinkle 1 tsp of sugar if u want ..serve after 10 minutes with banana,chutney or any curries with ur choice… 🙂
